Proof

How real is it, really?

Everything on MAKEIT.REAL wears one of five labels. Here is how to read them — and how far we have actually got.

  1. 01Idea

An idea. Shown to think with, not to buy.

    4 things
  2. 02Prototype

A working prototype exists, with limits.

    1 thing
  3. 03Works today

Genuinely works, here in your browser, today.

    2 things
  4. 04Orderable

Verified with the supplier and orderable now.

    1 thing
  5. 05Real

Delivered, and checked by us. The only label that means done.

How we decide what is real

Each kind of thing has its own bar. Something moves to Real only when we hold evidence that meets it.

Physical

A verified production outcome: a delivered order MAKEIT.REAL has checked.

Software

Deployed and working.

Content

Rendered or published.

Hardware

A working physical prototype.

Brand

An actual usable output.

Available

Verified with the supplier and orderable now.

Live

Genuinely works, here in your browser, today.

Prototype

A working prototype exists, with limits.

Concept

An idea. Shown to think with, not to buy.

Real

Delivered and checked by us.

Nothing yet — on purpose.

We do not fill this shelf with previews. The closest is the photographer collection: five products can be ordered, but it becomes real only when a delivered order has been checked.

Works today

Does something for real right now. What is missing is written under each.

Available

Our own

The photographer collection

A gallery becomes pocket prints, wall prints and frames clients order themselves. The only collection here that really sells.

What is missing

Not REAL yet: the products are orderable, but no delivered order has been verified by us.

Live

Our own

MockSmith

Paste an OpenAPI spec and get realistic responses instantly. Works in your browser now.

What is missing

Not REAL yet: works in the browser, but is not deployed to production from this branch.

Prototype

Our own

Code2Reel

A diff becomes a readable vertical video. Prototype: recorded in the browser where supported.

What is missing

Prototype: renders real video files where the browser supports it. Not deployed to production.

Live

Our own

MAKEIT.REAL Lab

The engine itself. Understanding is rule-based today — it says so everywhere it is used.

What is missing

Not REAL yet: the engine runs on the preview, not in production.

Ideas

Fictional brands and devices. A concept says it is a concept.

Concept

Fictional

KVÄLLSDOPP

A fictional brand for the hour after sunset. Two formats exist already, the rest are concepts.

What is missing

A fictional brand. Two formats are orderable; the rest are concepts.

Concept

Fictional

FÄLT/04

A fictional label and zine for field recordings. Brutal, blue, black and white.

What is missing

A fictional brand. Concepts only.

Concept

Our own

BuildLight

A light strip that follows the build. The simulator works; the device itself is a concept.

What is missing

Concept: a simulator exists, no physical prototype.

Concept

Our own

PaperLedger

A calm screen for the numbers that matter. A concept with a working simulator.

What is missing

Concept: a simulator exists, no device.
